The Cathedral
On Sundays at 9:45am our educational series, The Cathedral presented by William R. Cook, Ph.D., takes place in the Sunday School room. All are welcome to join anytime!
The mind cannot comprehend the symbolic and real power that the cathedral has held for much of the past 2,000 years of Western civilization in its manifestation of art, science, and religious fervor. After exploring cathedrals from the earliest eras and venturing into the monumental style of Romanesque, the course then turns to the Gothic style, developed around Paris in 12th century, which would become the predominant form of church architecture for the next 300 years. Many of Europe’s most famous cathedrals will be featured along with the “story” of each.
